Setting Up A Zapier Integration

Automate your workflows with Circa and Zapier

Zapier is an enterprise integration platform that helps you automate your workflows. You can learn more about Zapier in their Demo Video. With Circa on Zapier, you can use normal actions inside Circa to trigger actions in your other business tools allowing you to save time and keep your data current.
Since Circa's integration with Zapier connects at the workplace level, you can use a single Zapier account to handle multiple integrations between Circa and Zapier

Getting Started

As an enterprise product, Zapier requires a subscription to use, but you can get a free 10-day trial if you're not sure it's for you. Once you have created a Zapier account, head to the integrations page in Circa and click the Zapier integration icon. Copy the API integration key and then click "Start Now". Your Circa API key is used in Zapier as your Circa credential, so any admin can set up your connection and it won't be connected to an individual account.

Connecting to Circa

Circa can be a source or a destination, so this step will depend on which way you are sending data. This walkthrough demonstrates Circa as a source, but the steps are nearly identical when using circa as a destination.

You will need to search for Circa to select it as a source or destination.

You will be asked to sign in to Circa, this is where your API key is required.

Now you'll need the API key from Circa's Zapier Integration page:

Once you have finished this step, you will have connected your Circa account to Zapier and are ready to start creating zaps.

Using Circa as a Source

Circa Supports fifteen trigger events, which you can view on the Zapier integration page. To set up a new Zap you'll need to pick one of these triggers that will cause the data to begin processing. These triggers happen in real time, so if any delay is necessary you will need to do that in an additional step. Don't forget you can chain together as many steps as you need, but the steps are all tied to the single trigger that starts the workflow. You can have multiple workflows tied to the same trigger, so you can synchronize the same event with multiple systems if needed. If that sounds complicated, don't worry. You can write success for assistance.

Using Zapier Functions to Enforce Business Logic

Filtering and conditional steps can be useful for ensuring that your Zaps follow your business logic. One common example in Circa would be to filter new events to only include those that were created from an event request. To do this you could create a filter for the event_request field to be "Approved".

Connecting to a Third Party Provider

Once you have connected to Circa, you will connect to a third party provider. Zapier integrates with a wide variety of apps so you'll definitely want to browse the list on their site, but some popular tools that Circa users may want to consider include Project Management tools like Monday or Asana, GSuite apps and Slack for collaboration.

Get Educated with Zapier 101

Zapier has a series of introductory videos that they have created for users to learn more about how to use the Zapier product. We couldn't say it any better than they can, so we strongly recommend that you watch their video series to fully unlock the power of Circa and Zapier in your workflows.
